It Ain't Gonna' Happen Unless You Make It Happen!

Marketing, what is it? The dictionary defines it as:

1) the total process whereby goods are put on to the market;
2) the act of buying or selling in a market.

Okay, what process? If you look at the dictionary meaning of
process it says:

1) a systematic series of actions directed to some end;
2) a continuous action, operation, or series of changes taking
place in a definite manner.

Gee, that sounds simple doesn't it. How simple is it really?
What are some of the processes involved in marketing? Well for
me it is firstly being organized, having the end in mind and
therefore putting the strategies or goals in place to meet
the end result. The end result may vary for individuals but
for me personally the aim of any of my marketing efforts is to
always generate traffic to my site.
Having a daily routine is always useful in that, it prevents
wasting time, energy and money, and stops procrastination.
Plan your day the night before, you know then exactly what
needs to be done the minute you start work for that day.

There's so many strategies for marketing your product/service,
getting it out there for the world to see. This is why it is
so important to have a plan to follow, to alleviate getting
confused, frustrated and lost in it all!

Some of the really effective marketing strategies I've used are:

  • writing articles and submitting them to ezine publishers:
everyone has an article in them, you have knowledge about
something within you even if you don't realize
Always include your resource box at the end of your article this
tells the reader who you are and where they can contact you.
  • If you don't have a product buy the resell rights to one,
there is plenty of really good infoproducts you can buy the
rights to and then set up an affiliate program to sell the
product for you. There's some great software and services
around that can help you do this: clickbank.com is a great
service and for a small set up fee they will basically do
    everything for you.
  • Write an ebook about a subject you have some knowledge about
and give it away to people and then let them give it away.
You'll be amazed at how much traffic this can generate for you.
  • Start an ezine: this is a great way to build a database of
people interested in your area of expertise. Give them up to
date useful information, tips and advice and great specials and
you will have a loyal database of customers for life, and
before you know it they will be recommending your ezine and
    your products/services.

These are just a few really powerful marketing strategies that
I use to great success and you can too. What these strategies
effectively do is create a 'viral marketing' effect. Once you
start the ball rolling it won't stop, isn't that great news!

There is one thing I can tell you for sure from my own
experience. It ain't gonna' happen unless you make it happen.
I remember when I first started out in my Internet business,
I thought that I could place a couple of ads here and a couple
of ads there and somehow miraculously thousands of people would
flock to buy my products, or I would visit forums and message
boards and read everything posted from A-Z but very rarely
participate. Needless to say, guess what happened - you got it -
nothing! As my frustration levels grew so did my determination
to succeed. I thought, 'if all those top Internet entrepreneurs
can do it so can I'. So began my education about marketing.
I decided the first thing I had to do was to learn, so I read
everything I could get my hands on about marketing and started
putting what I learnt into practice (if you don't put it into
practice you are wasting your time). All of a sudden things
started to fall into place and my understanding of marketing
developed.

There's no easy way around it, it's a continual learning process.
It should be a constant goal to continuously learn, you owe it
your business and yourself.
The good thing is, so many people have done it before you and I,
and have done it well and are only too willing to help.
You don't have to re-invent the wheel so to speak, you just have
to duplicate their successes and ask for help, and, as you
become better at marketing you also become more creative with
your marketing strategies, that's the really exciting thing
about this business. It doesn't have to cost you an arm and a
leg to learn, take advantage of the free resources available:

  • subscribing to free ezines - you get loads of business
  • tips & hints, free articles, free ebooks, and more;
  • participate in forums & message boards
  • read the free ebooks you download
  • free tutorials
  • free marketing courses
  • make contact with other business folk that have a similar
target market to you, form a business relationship
    (I love this one).

The list just goes on and on............

So learn everything you can possibly learn about marketing, set
your marketing goals for your business and work them every day.
You'll be astounded at the results.
